Fiesta Fest - Leap Day was held on Saturday, February 29th. Over 150 ACEr's and guests were in attandance.
The event started with check in and signing up to ride on the Mardi Gras parade floats. After checking in, we entered the park and most people headed over to Goliath for a walk up the lift hill to take photos of the park. At the same time, a full hot breakfast was being served in La Vista.
After everyone was wide awake from the climb and a big breakfast, we headed over to the freshly painted Boomerang Coast To Coaster for an hour of ERT.
Next up, the parks first surprise for attendees, a behind the scenes photo tour inside of the "spaghetti bowl" area of Poltergeist. Members took photos and selfies inside the restricted area of the ride. This was a very unique and highly appreciated add on to the event to make it special.
After the photo time, members headed out for some free time in the park. The next event was in the afternoon when we met for a construction tour and group photo on the site of the new Dare Devil Dive Flying Machines attraction that will be opening later this year. We were then allowed to get photos from the back areas of Iron Rattler and Road Runner Express.
Again, members were free to explore the park on their own until time to suit up to be on the floats of the Mardi Gras parade floats. ACEers were excited to toss beads to eager park guests and this is always a highlight of the event.
The group had outgrown our normal dinner venue, so the park moved us to their larger facility for a Mardi Gras inspired meal. After dinner, the ACE regional rep team welcomed new members, first time attendees, and guests from other regions. Jeff and Jeffrey also had presentations and announcements for the group.
After dinner, there was time to grab one more ride before ERT for one and a half hours on all of the parks roller coasters. During ERT, members were invited to grab beignets, bread pudding, and beverages. During the ERT, the park had the entertainment team lead a parade through the park with all the lights and sound on so everyone could see the parade that they had been in, without the floats riders.
We wish to thank Jeffrey, Jeff, Ron, and the entire Six Flags Fiesta Texas team for one of the best events that they have ever put on for us.
