Lone Star Coasterthon was held on Saturday, September 14th and Sunday, September 15th at Six Flags Over Texas. We had 176 ACE members and guests in attandance.
The event started with check in where we received our tickets, meal voucher, carry bag, and event t-shirt. Before the park opened, we enjoyed continental breakfast and ERT on fourteen rides for three hours.
After ERT, we headed to the air conditioned comfort of the Southern Palace for a question and answer session with Six Flags park and corporate officials.
After the general session, guests were free to enjoy the park until dinner. Six Flags gave us a surprise this year by allowing our event lanyard to act as a Flash Pass on all attractions with Flash Pass.
We met for our catered dinner in the Oak Picnic Pavillion. After dinner and announcements, ACE Man made an appearance. He escorted the group to the site of the former Lone Star Theater for a movie. We saw ACE Man, tricked by the evil villian El Diablo, and forced to ride his non-coaster for the rest of his life. Luckily, ACE Man now has a new partner ACE Boy who saved the day with his "Power Wave".
After the movie, ACE Man, ACE Boy, and El Diablo led us up the tower for an Oil Derrick Party. The party included a live DJ, drinks, and the parks signature Pink Thing ice cream with chocolate syrup available for a topping.
After this surprise, the park still had another trick up their sleeve. We received an hour of ERT in the Spain section of the park on El Diablo, Conquistador, and La Vibora. The park also provided tickets for free soft/adult beverages and churros at the bar.
The next morning, the event resumed with breakfast taco bar for breakfast and ERT on another ten rides. After ERT, the wrap up session was held in the Majestic Theater. The park raffled off the construction fence banners that had park history on them. The regional rep team made announcements. The event ended with an ACE wedding. ACE's favorite judge Marty was on hand to officiate the wedding of Kim & Hurley.
A great big THANK YOU to Sharon, Matt and the whole team at Six Flags Over Texas for their amazing hospitality. We really appreciate all of the love you showed us this weekend!
